Rautenbach recently struck a deal with the National Prosecuting Authority; paying a R40 million fine and agreeing to testify for the State against the former police commissioner.
He was facing over 300 charges of fraud and tax evasion.
The controversial Zimbabwean businessman was expected to testify about allegations that he paid money to Selebi in order to sort out an international warrant for his arrest.
Earlier in the trial, Glenn Agliotti claimed Rautenbach paid him US$100 000 for access to Selebi, US$30 000 of which went to the ex police chief.
On Tuesday, former NPA head Vusi Pikoli testified that Selebi had attempted to blackmail him into dropping the prosecution against the businessman.
However the defence believed Pikolis predecessor, Bulelani Ngcuka attempted to extort a bribe from Rautenbach and was planning to try and get the ex-Hyundai boss to testify about it.
