No arrests have been made, the amount stolen has not been established, and investigations are under way.
Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
“We are investigating an armed robbery incident which occurred in Norton where a safe was blown at Govans Shopping Centre by suspects who are yet to be identified. We will be releasing more details in due course,” he said.
The incident comes just over a week after robbers allegedly gained entry to a ZB Bank branch at Mpandawana Growth Point in Gutu through the roof and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
According to the Masvingo Mirror, the suspects targeted an ATM inside the bank, which they blew up with explosives during the raid.
