JOHANNESBURG The Zimbabwean rugby side will march into the Emirates Airline George Sevens in South Africa this weekend hoping to make up for missing silverware in the Bowl final, in Dubai, last weekend. The Cheetahs lost 38-7 to an on-fire Wales in a match that saw them emotionally crumble without any consolation, at Sevens Stadium.
International giants, New Zealand, won the Cup final in a thrilling encounter they managed to outclass a competitive Samoa 24-12, to claim a leading 24 points on the IRB Series standings.
The reigning World Series champions, South Africa, missed the finals as they crumbled in the quarter final stage. They lost the Plate final to Australia to walk out of Dubai with eight points to help them in their title defence.
The Zimbabweans, who are seeking to impress the world rugby governing body, IRB, to gain recognition as part of 12 core nations to play in all eight competitions of the Sevens series, are currently featuring in just two tournaments, Dubai and George.
