Vanessa Sibanda, Miss Zimbabwe Tourism, said shes ready for the big contest. Ive waited long enough and I think I have prepared for the contest, Sibanda said ahead of the grand finale.

Russias Ksenia Sukhinova is the current Miss World. There will be 120 contestants in the pageant that began in London on November 7 and will end in Johannesburg on December 13.

During the preliminaries, the candidates joined four fast-track events sports, beach beauty, top model, and talent with the winner in each event advancing to the semis.

Of the fast-track competitions, Sibanda won the beach beauty, emerging among the top 12 at the Zimbali Resort in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

She said she is determined to bring the crown home.

Designer Joyce Chimanye will provide Sibandas clothes, while Miss Zimbabwe rights holder Kiri Davies is helping with grooming lessons.

It will be a real coup for Sibanda to win the Miss World crown in her first try after landing in the semi-finals at her first attempt. She has won the most coveted special title and says she is on her way to clinching the title.

Sibanda, a marketing student, said she trained tirelessly and diligently to pursue her dream of becoming the countrys first Miss World title-holder.

Of all the major beauty contests, only the Miss World crown has yet to be won by Zimbabwe.
