Zim Rugby to improve

rugby_zimHARARE - Rugby is set to improve next year when Zimbabwe play against Uganda and Kenya in a tri-nations series.

Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU) president, Themba Sibanda, said they had entered into an agreement with Kenya and Uganda and this would see the Sables play against Uganda and Kenya on a home and away basis.

He said the arrangement was similar to the one between South Africa, Australia and New Zealand who play each other in a Tri-Nations series every year.

Sibanda said they chose Kenya and Uganda as they were ranked above Zimbabwe on the International Rugby Board world rankings. Uganda is ranked 42, Kenya 43 while Zimbabwe is ranked 46 in the world.

Rugby fans in the country who have been starved of international rugby will get a chance to watch the Brendan Dawson-coached Sables in action. The Sables last played international rugby in 2007 when they played against Madagascar and Zambia at Harare Sports Club.

Dawson was delighted that the Sables would get to play more matches next year.
