Our animals are constantly in danger. The cheetahs hunt during the day and hyenas and leopards hunt at night, said Gilbert Dube. He said he had lost two animals in the space of a month. We used to have a problem with lions, but they were all hunted down. Now its leopards, cheetahs and hyenas. We are appealing for a solution to the problem before we lose more animals. There is a need for relevant authorities to relocate these wild animals to a different location, said Dube.
Another farmer, Nomalanga Moyo, said she had lost two beasts to leopards and hoped that action would be taken to solve the problem. Her five calves had to graze within a 100 metre radius of her home for fear of wild animals. She said the situation was negatively affecting cattle ranching in the area and there was a need for intervention by the National Park and Wildlife Authority.
