Botswana group to grace NAMA awards

National Arts Council deputy director Nicholas Moyo said Culture Spears has been booked to perform at the star-studded awards ceremony featuring, among others, Zimbabwe’s Oliver Mtukudzi.? “It is a high profile event, which is held annually and we feel honoured to make the line-up,” Kabelo Mogwe, the lead singer of the group said from Gaborone. The group, who gained success with their album Kulenyane, says they will be playing live music at the Zimbabwe arts merit awards.?

The group’s nimble foot Botswana dance is expected to set the NAMA stage on fire.?The traditional dance group is made up of five young artists. ?Culture Spears’ first album, Korone was an instant hit. Their next album Kulenyane was a real success. The album sold over 60 thousands units within 3 three months and the producers, DD Promotions, took the album to Zimbabwe’s market where the album is doing wonders. ?The group has just released their third Album called Khudu. The album is doing well in the market, especially the DVD sales.
