Decol brings mime to Byo

The mime performance captures different emotions, be it sadness or laughter. It also communicates social issues through poetry and dance.

Laurent Decol is an important French mime artist. He was a pupil of the legendary Marcel Marceau, who died at the age of 84.

He was like a father to me, said Decol.

Marceau died the same year that his real father died, and almost at the same age. Laurent Decol is not only a follower of the maestro, but he is also a teacher at the School of Pantomime Marcel Marceau in Paris. In the language of gestures and mimics the mono-performance “Words of Silence” expounds on 12 of the existential human issues such as love, death, life, creativity etc.

The performance will take place in the Bulawayo Theatre Club at 7.30pm. Tickets on sale at the Bulawayo Theatre for US$5. Staff reporter

Hall goes back to school

HARARE – Zimbabwean supermodel Rozanna Hall is to turn her back on fashion and head back to school.

The vivacious catwalk queen, who came third in the Face of Africa beauty pageant held in Nigerian two weeks ago, is planning to study towards her O-Level exams at Dominican Convent, where she was at school before breaking to participate in the Face of Africa pageant.

Hall is passionate about modelling and narrowly missed the US$50,000 prize money when she came third in the competition, eventually won by a Zambian.

She says she has explored several career paths and wants a qualification in journalism.
