Speaking to delegates at a Roadmap Business Meeting in the city last week that included the Asian business community, Rah Kassim, an economic consultant from India, said Asias economy had experienced phenomenal growth in the past years and Zimbabwe could tap into the vast economies. He said local companies could benefit from trade with Asian companies.
Kassim said he would consult with his counterparts and deliberate on the possibility of hosting such a conference.
Indias economy has mushroomed into multi-trillion United States dollars, he said. India is willing to assist and work with Zimbabwe in all spheres of business, he added. He said India had an India-Africa Action plan in which it expects to pump out more than US$500 million dollars in grants. Lines of credit are being opened for Africa, he said. Kassim said Zimbabwe could benefit from advanced technologies that India possesses and revolutionaries the countrys way of doing business. India has one of the largest pools of scientific manpower which is ready to offer its expertise and support to the business community, he said.
India was already working with the government and had helped set up a state of the art technology centre in Chitungwiza, which provides small and medium enterprises with advanced manufacturing machinery. More than 460 Zimbabweans have received training in India in various fields that include Information Communication Technology and engineering.
