Bulawayo– The Deputy Prime Minister, Thokozani Khupe, has said that women should demand equal representation from the political parties in the constitution making process. Khupe urged women to demand that parties should be disqualified from elections if they do not meet a set constitutional quota requirement for women representation. Khupe blamed political parties for the poor representation of women in parliament and politics. She said there is need for the new constitution to address the problem. Khupe was speaking at a belated International Womens Day celebration at MacDonald Hall in Mzilikazi on Saturday.
The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association chairperson, Jabulani Sibanda, said confusion in ZANU PF succession cannot affect his association. Sibanda said there is a succession program running parallel with the constitution of ZANU PF. Sibanda was speaking to journalists at the Bulawayo Press Club. He was reacting to the recent power wrangles in his association. Some members of the war veterans association led by vice chairperson Joseph Chinotimba have recalled Jabulani Sibanda as the leader alleging that he is misusing the property of the association.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Professor Welshman Ncube has said that some part of the 500 million US dollars from the IMF will be channeled to the productive sector. In a meeting at a local hotel, he said that the money will be given to companies that are facing capitalization challenges. Professor Ncube added that the manufacturing sector is still facing working capital problems that are hindering economic growth.

Bulawayo Agenda has scheduled for a leadership forum to focus on the implications of Indigenisation and Empowerment Act on the economy, at the Democracy Centre on the 19th of March from 1400-1630hrs.
Bulawayo Agenda in partnership with Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA) will be holding a ward meeting at Khumalo Suburb in Bulawayo on the 20th of March. More details will be available in due course.
Radio Dialogue and National Youth Development Trust (NYDT) will host a High Schools Public Speaking Competition.
