Whyte to compete in Kenya Safari Rally

HARARE - Zimbabwes Motor rally champion, Jamie Whyte, is expected to leave the country on Saturday for Kenya to compete in the tough Safari rally, to be held during the Easter holidays.

It is the second leg of the six-legged 2010 African Rally Championship series in which the Zimbabwean is expected to defend his championship title. The Kenya Safari Rally is called “the toughest and most exciting event of the World Rally Championship. It is the car racing series that challenges drivers with every imaginable condition across 14 nations and four continents.

Jamie Whyte last week lost to his brother Shaun in the Transearth Rally that was held in Ruwa as after his Subaru Impreza was unfortunate to roll out of the race while he was taking the lead. The misfortune gave his brother his maiden victory.

“Its always good to win, I experienced a bit of problems with my car during the race, but it went perfectly,” said Shaun Whyte. It is my maiden victory and Im so happy about it. For me beating some of the seasoned drivers was good, it was a brilliant race with a new rally route.
