The show is expected to air on the continent before the World Cup in June 2010. The show is called ‘Footballers Lives’ and features players, mostly in Europe, focusing on their daily routines and family lives. The 30-minute documentary on each player will give access to the facilities at their clubs including the dressing rooms, stadiums and other exclusive club events as well as how they prepare for matches.
“The concept is to explore the private lives of some of Africa’s best footballers across the world, understand what drives them, what makes them tick, what they do when they are not playing football, how they spent their money, time” the organisers said. The show will feature Ghana defender John Mensah’s house and his club Sunderland in England, South Africa’s defender Aaron Mokoena, Salomon Kalou of Ivory Coast and Ghanaian striker Razak Pimpong.
