Escape the World Cup

world-cup_2010HARARE - The Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) is set to launch an "Escape the World Cup" tourism package in a bid to attract tourists who won't be interested in attending the Soccer World Cup.

The 2010 Soccer World Cup is set to begin in South Africa on June 11, and the country’s major tourism players have been involved in various marketing strategies to ensure that Zimbabwe benefits from the number of tourists set to visit the region.

The RTG Commercial Director, Godfrey Pasipanodya, said that as a tourism player it was their obligation to cater for the needs of all, through the drawing up of various tourism packages to suit everyone.

“We appreciate the spectacle the World Cup is set to bring to the region but we have also to consider the plight of the displaced tourists who won’t be interested in attending it. To this effect we have come up with this package meant to attract these tourists and ensure that they are effectively serviced during the World Cup period,” Pasipanodya said.
