Apparently a new efficiency drive at the Govt Office for West Midlands has resulted in a hidden sensor being installed which switches of the toilet light after 10 minutes of use. One worker at the Birmingham offices has objected on the grounds that there was “no staff consultation and we feel humiliated and degraded, with the added indignity of being in a cubicle when suddenly the lights go out and you have to fumble in the dark to make yourself decent” etc etc all the while hoping not to be seen by another loo user.
Oh my dear, what a dreadful situation to find yourself in! How appalling can this be?
I’d like to suggest that those office workers (or that one in particular) need to spend a week or two in Zimbabwe – for one thing they’d be lucky to have the use of a loo inside a building, and they’d be even more fortunate to have ANY Zesa at all for most of the day. Finally, if any worker had to spend 10 minutes in there I would recommend he / she consult his / her GP to find a solution for what sounds like a fairly serious case of constipation.
In the meantime, enjoy the pleasure of finding a loo with a light that comes on at all! JENNY, by e-mail
Zanus selfish means
EDITOR – It is very regrettable that Zanu PF apologists in government continue to use taxpayers funds to sponsor their misguided adventures.
The recent judgment passed by the High Court in the trial of MDC treasurer, Roy Bennett is a sure sign that the Johannes Tomana who has shamelessly confessed that he is a Zanu (PF) apologist, was not prosecuting Bennett in a professional manner.
Tomana was being used by Zanu (PF) to persecute Bennett simply because he is white, popular with the masses of Zimbabwe and is MDC.
However, Tomana was left with rotten eggs on his face after the High Court threw out his case and acquitted Bennett.
It is a shame that we still have people like Tomana in our midst, being blindly led by Zanu (PF) to use state resources for personal ends.
Tomana should know that Zanu PFs days are number and in next years election it will be voted out of power by the people of Zimbabwe who are tired of the corrupt and murderous party.
The people of Zimbabwe are tired of a party that uses peoples funds for the personal expeditions when the hospitals have no drugs, teachers are fleeing because of low salaries and there is no electricity. STEVEN TAKAWIRA, Bindura
