nyanga2NYANGA - There are plans to launch a website and brochure to market the Nyanga resort area and put it back on the world tourism map. (Pictured: Nyanga being revived as a world tourist destination)

Nyanga, nicknamed “The Little England”, boasts of The Inyangani Mountain, Nyanga National Park and the Erin Forest area that has woodland reserves, magnificent footpaths, natural streams, majestic views and varied bird life. There is also the spectacular Troutbeck and Montclair Hotels.

The spokesperson of the group of tourism players planning to market the area, David Payne, told The Zimbabwean that they expected to launch the website at the end of this month after having postponed the project last year due to lack of funds.

He said they were now waiting for an advertising media consultancy firm in Harare to come and make final touches on security aspects and design of the website.

He added: We are currently working with government and other private players in the private sector in gathering accurate information about the resort area.

Payne said the website would go a long way in helping the Nyanga resort area market itself to the world, thereby boosting tourist arrivals and investment into the area and other parts of Nyanga district.

“We want hotels, lodges and other companies in the area and Mutare city to be part of the website so that we have many players promoting the town, especially during the 2010 World Cup that is about to take place in neighbouring South Africa,” said Payne.

He said many companies had donated equipment such as computers, cameras and printers to make the project a success.
