Zim photographer featured at Tarifa

JOHANNESBURG - Top Zimbabwean female photographer, Resta Nyamwanza, has been selected for the 3rd PHOTOAFRICA CONTEST 2010 organized by the CAF -Andalusian Centre of Photography and the African Film Festival of Tarifa (FCAT).

Her picture, “Let me speak the unspoken” was selected to be part of the photo exhibition whose format is to be an outdoor show throughout the streets of Tarifa Spain, coinciding with the 7th edition of the African film festival of Tarifa. (21 to 29 of may 2010)

“We all have an onus to make the world a better place and we use different methods, I chose to use the camera, hoping that others are challenged by the images and act to make the world a better place to live in for all of mankind”, said Nyamwanza.

A total of 52 artists from the African continent submitted their photos to participate in the 3rd edition of PHOTOAFRICA, organized by the NGO Al-Tarab and the Centre of Photography of Andalusia.

Over 300 works answered the call for entries, which asked participants to express their point of view of the African independence, making PHOTOAFRICA a new reference in African photography. Some of the selected artists from Zimbabwe include Annie Mpalume, Boldwill Hungwe, Desmond Kwande, Jekasai Njikizana and Tsvangirayi Mukwazhi.
