Kambarami, who became a household name with local hits that include Ndiwe (Only You), Zunza (Shake Your Body), Bvuma (Accept), Wakaenda (You went Away) and Angela among others last released an album, Denderedzwa (Circle) in 2007. For the past three years Kambarami was quiet in the domestic music scene and his last release Denderedzwa (Circle) was a major flop considering the successes of his other previous albums titled Ndinoimba (I Sing) released in 2002 and Angu Mashoko (My Words) that rocked the airwaves in 2005.
In an interview with The Zimbabwean on the sidelines of a performance at a local joint in Mutare, Kambarami said: I am going to release an album in August this year. But, firstly I will release two tracks from that album as singles this month. In this album, I went back to my roots of singing love lyrics. I really put all my heart and mind on this project. So my fans can definitely expect my good come back, he said.
Kambarami hopes that the two singles, entitled Mira (Wait) and Ndokutendai Sei? (How Can I Thank You), are set to propel the young musician to greater heights and confirm him as one of the best Urban Grooves artistes. But, I am very hopeful that my next offering will make it on the scene. I really put my heart and effort in the forthcoming album. But, I have to mention that piracy is killing our music especially us the Urban Grooves artistes. This explains why I have been silent in the music circles.
I do not only sing for passion, but it is my source of income. I survive on music so at the end of the day we will be expecting to have a decent living out of music, said Kambarami. Most people do not even know my previous album because of piracy. This has crippled business. Record studios and marketing companies are now finding it worthless to market our songs as they will be in the streets selling for peanuts because of piracy, he lamented.
In the forthcoming singles the first track Mira (Wait) is a love song that depicts the patience of someone who is waiting to find true love. The song features another popular Urban Grooves hitman XQ and was produced by prominent producer Russo. On the other track Ndokutendai Sei (How Can I Thank You), Kambarami goes gospel and thanks the Lord in all his blessings he has received in his life.
