FIFA conference delegates handpicked

henrietta_rushwayaHARARE - Retired Brigadier general Elliot Kasu and ZIFA chief executive Henrietta Rushwaya have been picked to attend the FIFA congress in South Africa starting today. (Pictured ZIFA CEO Henrietta Rushwaya goes to World Cup)

The decision has not gone down well with other board members who also wanted to attend. Kasu, who is also ZIFA board member in charge of finance, and Rushwaya

will join the ZIFA president Cuthbert Dube on the trip to South Africa for the two day congress to be held before the start of the world cup tomorrow.

The two were nominated by the ZIFA president, a decision which appears to have not gone down well with fellow board members who will miss out on the additional benefit of watching the opening match of the World Cup between hosts South Africa and Mexico at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.

One board member who spoke on condition of anonymity questioned the decision made by the ZIFA president.

“I thought Nigel Munyati, who is the board member in charge of marketing, would be picked but it was not the case. The president appears to be picking his own people. If you look at it Kasu is the General Manager of Finance, Administration and Human Resources at ZBC and Dube also sits on that board. It’s all about who you know,” said the source.

The Fifa congress is attended by representatives from all the football associations affiliated to the world soccer governing body.
