Commemorating UN Torture day: Featuring Rev Useni Sibanda (Zimbabwe Christian Alliance) and Irene Petras (Zimbabwe lawyers
for Human Rights)
The 26th of June is United Nations day of Solidarity with torture victims. Zimbabwe has experienced endless use of torture since
the colonial days to Mugabe’s desperate bid to hold on to power.
This has caused Zimbabweans to be the highest number of Sanctuary seekers in the world, that is beating war zones like Afghanistan and Iraq.
The Forum features Rev Useni Sibanda the National Director of the Zimbabwe Christian Alliance. It was Christian Alliance that
convened the rally in Zimbabwe grounds Highfield where Morgan Tsvangirai and others were brutalised until the SADC and AU
initiated the talks that led to the GNU. Rev Useni Sibanda has interesting stories to tell about how the church leaders that
started our political recovery are battling to complete our moral rebirth. Do not miss this crucial forum.
Fighting for change,
