The English are here

The Three Lions delegation arrived at the OR Tambo International Airport this morning led by head coach Fabio Capello, who led such superstars as Wayne rooney, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard. I hope the World Cup will be a big success for South Africa and also for my team.

It is good to be here, the Italian-born Capello told media upon arrival when asked about his teams chances. England are favourites to qualify for the second round of the tournament from a group that contains Australia, Ghana and Serbia. The country last won the World Cup in 1966 when they hosted the event. Their fortunes have slid spectacularly over the years with heartbreaking penalty shootouts characterising their exits in past tournament.

They also failed to qualify for Euro 2008. However, Capello has moulded them into world beaters since taking over that year. Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard are poised to play a huge role in the teams quest to end 34 years of underachievemtn.
