Instead of harassing commuter omnibus drivers and conductors, the Harare City Council should engage in dialogue with representatives of public transporters and their workers and urge them to comply with city regulations – it is called self-regulation.
The council on the other hand should also be looking into building new infrastructure and renovating the old to accommodate ever-rising numbers of commuters and vendors. A city built to accommodate only a handful of blacks from the Harare Township of the then Salisbury cannot be expected to cater adequately for the millions of black people now comprising the majority of the citys residents.
