Where are they now? With Mkhululi Chimoio

chris_sibandaWith five days to go before the final of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, yours truly visits the Zimbabwe Saints camp of 90s, and unveil to you the ever shy Chris Sibanda who is now involved in the construction industry as a tiller in South Africa. (Pictured: Chris Sibanda)

I have been involved in this industry for a long time, and my family depends on it. I dont think I will leave this industry as it is best compared to a lot of lowly paying jobs here in South Africa. Yoyo also rules out any chances of him being involved in the football fraternity again as he is focusing on his work and family. I love my family very much, and I want the best for them. As of now I am also concentrating on my job nothing more, added the soft spoken Sibanda.

Sibanda migrated out of the country when Zimbabwe was faced with political and economical melt down. He has been in South Africa for more than half a decade. Born 44 years ago in Bulawayo, Sibanda, who was prominently known as Yoyo, started his soccer career at Highlanders juniors in mid 80s and moved to Zimbabwe Saints where he featured for the first team in the early 90s. He played alongside the great Warriors midfielder Ronald Gidiza Sibanda, Thulani Biya Ncube and clownish goalminder Edmore Mamkhwebu Sibanda.

His team Zimbabwe Saints also produced the great players like Mthulisi Maphosa, Mtshumayeli Moyo, the late Minenhle Maphosa, the late Reuben Chandada, Muzondiwa Mugadza and Matambanashe Sibanda.
