According to Ian Beddows, one of the key architects of the proposed party, groundwork for the formation of the Zimbabwe Communist Party has already begun, but most of the mobilization will take off after Zapus first national congress, slated for Bulawayo at the end of this month.
It is high time that Zimbabwe has a communist party and soon after the Zapu congress, we will launch our political education groups, aimed at building the Zimbabwe Communist party, said Beddows.
The party will work in alliance with Zapu, which also stands for the people, but will have its autonomy, in exactly the same way that the South African Communist Party (SACP) is aligned to the African National Congress (ANC).
The Zimbabwean communists two weeks ago met in Johannesburg, where they launched a publishing company, the Zimbabwe Communist Publishers (ZIMCOM), which will churn out communist books to sell the partys ideologies to Zimbabweans.
The first book that is currently on sale is a reprinted and re-edited version of “Philosophy and Class Struggle”, authored by South African John Hoffman.
