Gibson whom I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting on a number of occasions was held in high esteem in the international trade union movement for his outstanding leadership qualities, wisdom and foresight. In his capacity as Chairperson of the Commonwealth Trade Union Council, he championed the cause of millions of working people in the Commonwealth and made a remarkable contribution to the work of the ILO Governing Body in the defence of workers rights throughout the world.
