Senator demands justice

HARARE - MDC Deputy Organising Secretary Morgan Komichi has challenged the police to carry out a public survey to gauge the confidence that people have in the law enforcement agents.

Komichi has been arrested no less than three times this year alone said that people in the country have lost confidence in the police because of their partisan approach to political cases.

“It is important that the police carry out a survey to see if people trust them. Such as survey should be carried out in areas of

Mashonaland where violence is still occurring as we speak and police are reluctant to act on cases of intimidation,” said Komichi.

Two weeks ago Komichi was arrested by police in Matebeleland North Province after he had demanded that the police release three vehicles belonging to the MDC which included the Prime Minister BMW X-5.

The vehicles were impounded at the height of the run up to the bloody Presidential run-off that saw thousands of Zimbabweans falling victim to an orgy of violence instigated by Zanu (PF) supporters.

Zanu vehicles, which roamed the country unregistered, were not impounded by the police.

“Its shocking that only our vehicles were impounded when everybody knows that Zanu (PF) was the chief culprit and the MDC was a victim,” said Komichi.

“For the sake of national healing we demand that the ministry of Home Affairs carry out this survey urgently so as to restore people’s confidence in the system which must deal with cases of intimidation and murders,” said Komichi.
