LONDON- I very much welcome the rumour of an election next year. It gives the peaceful masses of the great country of Zimbabwe another shot at electing their chosen government.
But l am still restless on two issues, namely:
1. How do we ensure that ZANU-PF does not use violence yet again in this election?
2. How do we stop the ZANU-PF machine from doing what they do best…RIGGING the elections?
Before the Zimbabwean people get excited about the possibility of another election, there needs to be a reality check. An effective strategy must be put in place right away to ensure that ZANU-PF will never use violence on the people of Zimbabwe again. The idea of peacekeeping forces to be present in Zimbabwe seems very logical to me. The idea is that ZANU-PF must be stopped from using violence and intimidation by any means necessary.
The violence of the 2008 elections have left our country scarred and forever deeply divided. Lets say to ZANU-PF that ENOUGH is ENOUGH!! And the next election is our chance to do exactly that.
If ZANU-PF decides to declare war on its own people, then let the people step up to the plate and fight for their freedom. No one wants to see bloodshed but for how long can people continue to run and hide? Until we desire our freedom to the point of death, then we can rest in the assurance that we can never attain it.
The MDC should focus all their energies on making sure that the electoral system is revamped and gives no chance for ZANU-PF to steal the elections. According to me this is the supreme reason why the MDC went into this coalition. Simply to clean-up the electoral system from the inside. And this job has to be done and done now! Its important the MDC beats ZANU-PF at their own game.
Yes, let the people of Zimbabwe speak. Never again shall we tolerate the violence and intimidation of ZANU-PF. We desire peace and lets be ready to do everything we can to achieve that. Power is in the people and when guided by the desire of freedom, no-one can stop us.
So to our brothers and sisters in ZANU-PF we say you have to change your ways. If you are planning another massacre of the Zimbabwean people in the forthcoming elections, then get ready for a tireless resistance.
The MDC should now speak up for the people without any fear. Because the people of Zimbabwe are now ready to back any plans you may have to oust this oppressive regime.
Mugabe and his Cronies MUST GO- BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!
