In its seventh year, vinspired Lake of Stars Festival returns to Sunbird Nkopola Lodge, Mangochi on the 15th of October for three sun-filled days of music, arts and culture.
Festival Founder Will Jameson says we are privileged this year to have such a dynamic contingent of incredible Zimbabwean artists who are volunteering their time to perform at one of the worlds most exciting and incomparable events.
Widely regarded as one of the most celebrated performers in the country’s history, Mtukudzi is a gifted performer with a deep, gutsy voice and a talent for writing songs that reflect on the daily life and struggles of the people of Zimbabwe, Jameson says.
We are also fortunate to have the African-debut of UK powerhouse, Noisettes and up and coming talent, Tinash. It is something of a homecoming for Noisettes front woman, Shingai Shoniwa, and Tinash, who both have roots in Zimbabwe.
Not to missed will be the exuberant youthful energy of the talented Mokoomba, who come from one of Zimbabwes smallest rural villages. Beginning their music life singing in a language foreign to their country, these six young men have never been deterred from their dream of making music.
This years festival features the best line up yet with more than 40 artists from Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa, Cte d’Ivoire, Burundi and the UK including Peter Mawanga, Aly Keita, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Afrikan Boy, Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers, and the All Stars, Sally Nyundo, Eddy Temple Morris and Goldierocks, says Jameson.
