Bryony Rheam gets UK book deal

september_sunHARARE - The year just keeps getting better for Bryony Rheam with her first novel, This September Sun, soon to land on book shelves in the UK. (Pictured: The novel that will soon be appearing in UK bookstores.)

Parthian Books, a well-known publisher in the UK recently bought the rights to Rheams book, a move which will vastly increase the readership of the novel.

Zimbabwean publisher amaBooks was the first to recognise the young writers talent and take a chance on it. Their risk paid off with Rheam receiving critical acclaim and even winning the Best First Book award at the Zimbabwe International Book Fair.

This September Sun charts the journey of a young woman called Ellie who grew up in Zimbabwe but later moved to the UK to broaden her horizons. Following the death of her grandmother, she returns to her home country and uncovers things about her family that she never knew. Rheams writing has been labelled poetic, a breath of fresh air and a rich addition to Zimbabwean literature.

With the success of her first novel as encouragement, Rheam has reduced her teaching hours in order to dedicate more time to her creative pursuits. Who knows what lies ahead of her in 2011.
