Because Zimbabwe has made a decision to work together. Mr Tsvangirayi, President Mugabe and Myself have signed an agreement to form a government which must be supported. How do you support Tsvangirayi when you maintain sanctions on members of his cabinet? Sanctions must go. All of them.
Well l think the professor has got it all wrong. I have many reasons why l believe sanctions against Mugabe have to be maintained. The reason why the Unity government is not working today is not because of the targeted sanctions. It is because Mugabe and ZANU-PF are not genuine partners in this agreement and they will never be. Why is it human rights have not been restored in Zimbabwe even after the formation of the Unity government? Opposition supporters are still being harassed, persecuted and abducted.
Why is it Mugabe still acts as if he is ruling the country by himself? Only last week he unilaterally appointed the ZANU-PF governors. He again has refused to swear in Mr Roy Bennett to his designated portfolio. Why not sort out your own house before you ask the West to lift sanctions on Zimbabwe? Instead of globetrotting and telling the world that sanctions must go, Mutambara should instead be forcing Mugabe to abide by the GPA agreement. The maths is very simple. No removal of sanctions until there is full implementation of the GPA. First and foremost tell Mugabe and his cronies to change their ways.
The MDC in my view should be focusing their energies on making sure Mugabe does not rig the next election. Whilst Mutambara is busy preaching to the world about the removal of sanctions, Mugabe is busy oiling his violence machinery to ensure another bloody victory at the polls next year. The constitutional outreach process is in a mess as a result of frequent disruptions by the ZANU-PF militias. Violent farm invasions still continue unabated. And now the diamonds are being looted with very little dribbling to the treasury.
No Mr Mutambara Zimbabwe has NOT made a decision to work with each other yet. Mugabe must go…PERIOD!! – ZBN News

LONDON - The following is the shocking extract of the Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambaras speech on his recent visit to London. But right now sanctions in Zimbabwe do not make any sense at all.
