The play, which looks at the issue of violence in the community through the ever creatively critical eye of Chifunyise, was directed and produced by Daves Guzha. It is a musical and inspirational production that features a line-up of award-winning actors who include Mandla Moyo, Zenzo Nyathi, Joyce Mpofu, Chipo Bizure and Silvanos Mudzvova and Rutendo Chigudu.

A firm believer in pre-writing research, Stephen Chifunyise went through a study of particular community issues and captured the proposed solutions in this play which reflects the diverse wishes and fears of both victims and perpetrators of violence.

I gave myself to the service of Zimbabwe through Heal the Wounds and am continuing with that mission in this play which explores the various options available to deal with violence from both a victim and perpetrator perspective within our cultural context, says Stephen Chifunyise the author of more than 20 plays that have been performed at Theatre in the Park.

Theatre in the Park has been in existence for the last 14 years. It is one of Zimbabwes leading theatre houses that has produced plays that are not only entertaining and refreshing but crucial to national development in its broader spectrum, getting the audiences into an arena encircling the performers who are encouraged to use the intimacy created by the round stage for more interpersonal interaction with the audiences.

The Harare Gardens venue has hosted up to 200 theatre productions from Zimbabwe, the region and the world, among them Waiters and Ganyau Express which went on to become television sitcoms shown on Zimbabwe television (Waiters went on to screen throughout Africa on DSTVs Africa Magic channel), Citizen Chi, Intimate Affairs, Play of the Giants and Super Patriots & Morons.

The plays hosted have featured the best of Zimbabwean film and television actors and other African countries such as Burkina Faso, Zambia, Malawi, South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland as well as European countries including Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium among others.

The venue has retained its autonomy in being a platform for discussion on topical Zimbabwean issues over the years surviving the economic hardships and withstanding the shrinkage of free expression spaces. There will be performances of Rituals everyday at 5.30pm and 7.30pm except for Sundays and Mondays.
