Sweswe, Jambo back in favour at Chiefs?

kaizer_chiefsHARARE - Warriors defenders Thomas Sweswe and Zhaimu Jambo were handed rare starts at South Africa giants Kaiser Chiefs in the goalless draw against Platinum Stars on Saturday evening.

While Sweswe was making his second league start of the campaign for the Soweto giants, it was the first time Jambo had forced his way into the starting line-up this season.

The former Gunners left-back has found his chances limited by the good form of South African Punch Masenamela, who was not even on the bench on Saturday. Similarly, Sweswe has also struggled to break-up the partnership of Dominic

Issacs and Victor Nahayo in the Chiefs central defence.

Chiefs clash with Platinum Stars featured five Zimbabweans, with Tinashe Nengomasha and Knowledge Musona also in the fray while Terrence Mandaza was leading the Stars attack. Goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini was on the bench.

Another Warriors defender, Method Mwanjali, enjoyed his place in the lime-light, albeit for a lost cause. Mwanjali started his second game for Sundowns in the 2-1 loss to Orlando Pirates in a match also played on Saturday. Nyasha Mushekwi came on the 77th minute but there was no place even on the bench for Lionel Mtizwa.

Elsewhere former Gunner defender Carrington Nyadombo made his debut for AmaZulu as they went down 1-0 to Supersport but there was no sign of Ramson Zhwayo, who is yet to feature for his new side in the league.

At Ajax Cape Town Khama Billiat started the 1-1 draw against Santos before being replaced by compatriot Tafadzwa Rusike in the 60th minute.

Another CAPS United export Oscar Machapa lasted until the 61st minute as his side Moroka Swallows were downed 1-0 by Maritzburg United.
