The MDC Today Monday, 04 October 2010

mdc_bannerThe St Marys ward 1 Organising Secretary, Anna Mubayiwa (57) has died. Mubayiwa died yesterday at the Harare hospital where she was admitted after she was involved in an accident that killed three other MDC cadres on their way from Gokwe last month. Mubayiwa did not recover from her injuries. She leaves behind three children. Mourners are gathered at 1386 St Mary

The MDC strongly condemns the abuse and manipulation of the traditional institutions and structures for partisan political profit by Zanu PF. The MDC recognises and respects the traditional leadership of the people in the form of chiefs and Headmen. It also respects the traditions, values and culture of which they are the principal custodians. For this reason, the MDC wishes to see chiefs playing the game according to the nations expectation that they be above parochial political blemishes. This point was underscored by President Tsvangirai when he met the President of Chiefs, Chief Charumbira and his deputy, Chief Khumalo.

In Manicaland, Copac meetings scheduled for today in previously abandoned centres did not take place at three venues after Zanu PF bussed in its supporters. The meetings were scheduled to take place at Ruwombwe Secondary school, St Judes primary school, both in Makoni South and at Foroma primary school in Chipinge.
