Police continue to bar MDC consultative meetings that had been scheduled to be held in Harare this week.
This evening, President Morgan Tsvangirai was supposed to address the residents of Budiriro at Budiriro Hall, but senior police officers at Southerton Police Station cancelled the meeting. Yesterday, the same police officers cancelled a scheduled MDC meeting at Cyril Jennings Hall in Highfields.
Meanwhile, MDC Ward 13 councillor in Zhombe, Midlands North province, Veto Moyo was arrested yesterday on false charges that he had threatened to beat the headmaster of St Judes Secondary School, Munetsi Albert. Moyo had called a ward development meeting at the school but the headmaster refused them permission and reported that the councillor had threatened him.
Moyo was arrested and is still detained at Zhombe Police Station.
