A Bulawayo student activist further remanded

A Bulawayo student activist Patrick Danga appeared before a Harare magistrate today facing charges under the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform Act) chapter 9:23 for defeating the course of justice.

The case was further remanded to the 17th of November after the state prosecutor was unavailable because he was on study leave. The matter has been in courts for more than two years to date.

The Students Solidarity Trust (SST) is concerned over the decay of the countries justice delivery system. The courts have been jammed with a backlog of cases with some dating back to 2005.The state has been postponing and prolonging the prosecution of this matter on countless times with reasons that range from prosecutors being off sick, to most recent study leaves for the state prosecutors. It is the states responsibility to avail representatives from the state regardless of study breaks and off days. The justice delivery system must not be held to ransom by individuals pursuing personal agendas. The Student Solidarity Trust appeals to relevant authorities to set up proper administrative structures which will assist in the smooth running of the courts, and deliver justice to the population of Zimbabwe.

PROVIDING DEMAND DRIVEN SOLIDARITY TO THE STUDENT COMMUNITY AND BEYOND.
