The workshop was attended by councillors from the city of Bulawayo, Members of Parliament, various civic society leaders and residents representatives from Bulawayo. Presentations were made by the Mayor, Cllr Thaba Moyo on behalf of councillors and Hon Seiso Moyo on behalf of the Members of Parliament. Issues discussed included the operations of council in service delivery and law making procedures in parliament as a way of finding gaps for advocacy.
BPRA will be hosting a Social Accountability Conference under the theme Promoting Local Democracy at the large city hall in Bulawayo on 5 December 2010. The conference is aimed at promoting a culture of engagement between residents and policy makers as a way of promoting transparency and accountability. Further details will be communicated.
