Bantu Rovers need a miracle

HARARE - BANTU Rovers were effectively relegated from the premiership at the weekend despite putting up a brave show which earned them a point in the 1-1 draw against CAPS United.

The Bulawayo side anchor the bottom of the table with a paltry 16 points from 27 matches and with only three matches remaining before the curtain comes down on the premier soccer league calendar, Bantu will need a miracle to survive the dreaded chop.

Coach Gift Lunga conceded that they were all but out of the top league: “We can no longer talk about survival because we are out already but we have to continue and play football. We are already preparing for life in Division One. I will remain with the team.

FC Victoria, who are second from the bottom, are also staring relegation in the face but still have a mathematical chance of surviving alongside Douglas Warriors but it would all depend on how the other teams play this weekend. Four teams will face the chop at the end of the season while four will be promoted from the lower divisions. Already Misheck Chidzambwa’s Blue Ribbon Foods have won promotion into the topflight league. Masvingo United have also bounced back into the topflight league after they won promotion at the weekend.
