Women challenged to take charge of their destiny – Makone

theresa_makoniWomen have been challenged to take charge of their destiny by engaging in business that will enable them to take care of their families, the MDC Womens Assembly chairperson, Hon. Theresa Makone (Pictured) has said.

Addressing hundreds of women from the Chitungwiza province MDC Womens Assembly at Harvest House today, Hon. Makone, who is the Minister of Home Affairs said, women were the pillar that held families and society together.

You are the pillars of your families. A happy home is comprised of an enterprising wife and mother. If women use their hands, they are able to provide for themselves, their families and the community, she said. The occasion was to mark the graduation ceremony of business course taken by women from Chitungwiza province where more than 200 women received certificates after successfully completing their studies.

Guest of honour at the presentation, Hon. Fidelis Mhashu, the MDC Secretary for Education said women are the majority of people hence should thrive to develop their skills and develop the nation. It is said Educate a man and you educate one person. But if you educate a woman, you have educated the whole nation. As women, trained in business, you should be able to transform your lives and develop your communities. You will make a greater contribution when you are empowered enough. Now you have the knowledge, you get the capital, now develop those ideas into reality, he said.

The meeting was attended by Hon. Morgen Komichi, the National deputy Organising Secretary, Mrs Josphine Chitembwe, the Womens Assembly deputy Organising Secretary and the Chitungwiza Province chairperson, Hon. Alexei Musundire.
