The graduates underwent a one month training course on business management in running small-scale businesses. The programme was run by the Community Health and Empowerment Network, CHEN.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Highfield East MP, Hon. Simon Hove said the graduates would be assisted in accessing funds from various organisations to finance their businesses. The event was attended by the MDC National Spokesperson and Minister of Information and Communitication Technology, Hon Nelson Chamisa, the MDC National Womens Assembly Chairperson and Home Affairs Minister, Hon. Theresa Makone, MDC Harare province Chairperson and Chikomo Senator, Hon. Morgan Femai. Other senior officials present were, Mbare MP, Hon. Piniel Denga and Glen View North MP, Hon. Fani Munengami.
Meanwhile, Hon. Lynette Karenyi Kore, the MP for Chimanimani West, Manicaland province on Monday and Tuesday donated two sewing machines worth thousands of dollars to each of the 11 wards in her constituencies. Speaking at the handover ceremony of the machines, Hon. Makone said the donations would go a long way in empowering people especially women of Chimanimani West.
Hon. Makone who then donated clothing material, urged the community to form sewing clubs that would benefit people in each ward. She urged MPs to show serious dedication and selfless leadership such as demonstrateed by Hon. Kore who is the MDC National Organising Secretary in the MDC. During the same ceremonies, Hon. Kore donated soccer uniforms and balls to each of the wards.
