Senator Morgen Komichi appeared in court

mdc_symbolSenator Morgen Komichi, the MDC Deputy Organising Secretary who is facing charges of communicating falsehoods today appeared in court at the Hwange Magistrates Courts and was remanded to 15 April 2011 after the trial failed to kick off as the prosecutors claimed the docket was missing.

The State is accusing Senator Komichi of communicating falsehoods and undermining the police by accusing the provincial police led by Edmore Veterai of confiscating three MDC vehicles in 2008 when he was addressing an MDC rally at Negasha in Lupane, Matebeleland North province.

In the run up to the sham June 27, 2008 presidential run-off election, Lupane police impounded President Morgan Tsvangirais campaign vehicle and two others belonging to the Matabeleland North province and the MDC Youth Assembly. The three vehicles are gathering dust at Lupane police station.

Meanwhile, in Bulawayo, the MDC – run City Council is set to buy 24 trucks at a cost of US$1, 2 million before the end of the month in a move designed to improve service delivery in the city,. The vehicles include 23 pick-up trucks and one tow truck. Mayor Moyo said negotiations with the supplier were at an advanced stage and the vehicles are expected early next week.

Two MDC activists who braved the unpopular Zanu PF thugs assault are recuperating at a Harare hospital. The two, Barnabas Mwanaka and William Mukuwari, both 26 years old, were heavily assaulted and shot on Saturday by Zanu PF thugs. Mukuwari was shot in the leg in Budiriro by the Zanu PF Budiriro chairperson, Godfrey Gomwe whilst Mwanaka sustained a broken arm after he was severely assaulted by rowdy Zanu PF thugs in Mbare.

The two were however adamant that real change is around the corner despite the pain and assaults.
