The Daily Agenda: 20 January 2011

Gweru- Management at the Mashaba Housing Project (MHP) has told its employees that the company is only for ZANU PF supporters. The employees were told that those of them who are not the partys supporters have to look for alternative employment as the company is strictly ZANU PF.

It is not clear whether the company is owned by the political party. This is a clear situation to show that the ZANU PF empowerment policy will bring more harm than good especially to people who do not support the revolutionary party, it has been made clear that the policy is political. Many people have raised questions on the policy saying it is a political gimmick meant to lure votes to the struggling former ruling party which was knocked off the pedestal in 2008.

Bulawayo- People of Bulawayo have expressed that numerous political parties are welcome in the Matabeleland region as long as they have the Matabeleland agenda with them.. Speaking at a leadership forum organised by Bulawayo Agenda at the organisations Democracy Centre, one participant, Mbuso Fuzwayo, said the mushrooming of political parties in the region is because of the peoples frustration with ZANU PF. He also expressed frustration on the MDC T which he said has not done enough for the people of Matabeleland. The forum was attended by 45 people, six being women.
