We hope to have coverage by the Target and Standard newspapers and the atmosphere should be exciting with French-themed decorations.
If you are available on Saturday, please do come down to the pool and cheer us on. In the spirit of the event, wed love as many people as possible to dress as Frenchmen/women as though you are residents of Calais welcoming us from across the Channel. The more imaginative the outfit, the better. If you have any French flags or props that would add to the atmosphere, please feel free to bring them along!
We are hoping to be able to raise a few more pennies on the day with the collection tins and would welcome any help offered by friends and family to take this in turns (as well sometimes be in the pool and therefore unable to rattle the collection tin).
We might be able to link our event in with the Boston-Laval twinning committees latest project a photography competition, hopefully for which further details will be available shortly in the local press.
We hope to have the press present at around 11am to take some good shots. We will be at the pool from just after 9am to get things set up and prepared, so whenever youre ready, wed love to see you there (it should all be done and dusted by 12noon I would imagine).
If you havent had a chance to add your support yet, Sponsorship forms are still available at all Receptions at the College and at Geoff Moulder Leisure Centre. Alternatively, you can make an online donation via http://donateinmemory.cancerresearchuk.org/0000950 (this online facility will remain open for some time after the event so that people can continue to donate).
I have also set up a blog to share my experiences in the pool http://gingerswimmer.blogspot.com/
Thanks to everyone for their support. The experience has been amazing.
