Samson Bhuza, the chairperson of the Bulawayo Pool Association which organised the event, said the purpose of the pre-season tournament was to familiarise teams with some of the changes that have been made to the rules of the game.
For example, the black ball rules have changed. We want all the teams in our league to master all these changes, which have been already sanctioned by the World Pool Federation, before the tournament begins, said Bhuza.
We want to instil a sense of professionalism in our league. The game of pool is becoming increasingly popular and my executive is prepared to take it to greater heights, said Bhuza.
Participating teams included Black Boots, Basic Supermarket, Skittle Inn, Miriam Bar and Khulumani. Amazulu Sport Club were crowned the tournaments champions. Western Commonage came second, and Exchange Bar third.
