The agreement is for a three year period and the sponsorship package will be reviewed annually.

Interfin has committed to assisting the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee in training and developing with the goal of getting as many of our athletes as possible to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games. National pride is our ultimate aim; we want them to lift the countrys flag on to the Olympic World map, said Interfins Director of wholesale banking, Emmanuel Tagarira.

The competition schedule with dates, times and prices for the 19-day sporting extravaganza was published last week after years of planning and exactly a month before 6.6 million public tickets go on sale.

The event to mark the Olympic Games will be more than 200km away to the west of London at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium. The preliminary match for the women’s football tournament on July 25 will mark the first battle of the 302 medals to be won.

The best seat at the opening ceremony will be sold for 2,012, with the cheapest seat on the night going for 20.12.

The schedule lists more than 670 sessions at 34 venues in 26 sports, with some 2.5 million tickets priced at 20 pounds or less and children enjoying a ‘pay your age’ scheme.

The challenge faced by the majority of our students after they complete High School is that excellence in the sporting disciplines ends there (high school). This is due to lack of sporting and academic career guidance or lack of financial support, Tagarira said.
