After being denied the right to a peaceful march, ZCTU took the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) to court. A court order was granted in the presence of the Regulating Authority for Bulawayo Central District, Chief Superintendent Rita Masina. The magistrate allowed the women to go ahead with the gathering, with the procession starting from 3rd Avenue to the venue. But the police went ahead and blocked the women from marching.
To cast fear among ZCTU cadres, the police even stripped the women of their T-shirts. Imagine, young men who are not more than 22-years-old, being so courageous and brave enough to remove elderly womens clothing. Their crime? To have been given permission by the courts to go ahead with their procession.
Their punishment is to walk in public naked because these youngsters now want to see what lies underneath their mothers clothing. Let me tell you, there is no courage in that. It is shameful. Anyway, many thanks to that boy or police officer who said: Remove your T-shirt Mama. Dont you know we now have a state of emergency, gave me really valuable information. DISGUSTED, Bulawayo
