Mukamba, a new signing from Kiglon, scored straight from a corner after just eight minutes as Dynamos showed early intent ahead of the new season. The goal proved to be the winner and on Monday, Mukamba said in an interview with The Zimbabwean he was on top of the moon after the scoring the all important goal.
He said he was confident the corner kick would get in as he stepped up to take the set piece. “I knew It would go in,” said Mukamba.”I was very confident as I stepped up to take the corner kick. I could see that their (Highlanders) defence was not organised and I curled the ball and I could see it eluding the defenders. It’s one of my best goals so far and I am happy to have scored the winning goal especially against a big team like Highlanders. It gives me confidence as we prepare for the new season and the African Champions League,’ said Mukamba.
Dynamos will now play South Africas Kaizer Chiefs at the National Sports Stadium on March 27 in the final of the three-team invitational Hexagon Venture Challenge Cup. Lloyd Mutasas men pocketed US$20,000 from beating Highlanders, only a
week after banking a US$60,000 cheque for beating CAPS United 3-2 in the Bob 87 Super Cup. They can complete a hat-trick if they beat reigning Premier League champions Motor Action in the season-opening Net One Charity Shield this Sunday.
