Rautenbach eyes top-five-finish in Natal

HARARE - The 2011 Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally Champion, Conrad Rautenbach, is expected to fly the countrys flag high tomorrow when the driver competes for honours at the Total Tour Natal Rally, in South Africas port city of Durban.

Rautenbach will be featuring in this weekends Natal rally tour for the second time after his debut performance, last year. He finished in fourth place with his co-driver Peter Marsh in their Subaru Impreza N16.

“It feels good to prepare for such a challenge after winning the Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally. The car is working well with the G-Fuel ethanol and I’ve also struck a good combination with my new French navigator Nicolas Klinger. It has been great to have the Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally at the beginning of the year because it was a good test for us and we are quite confident of doing well,” he said.

The two-day Rally will take place in Amanzimtoti and Scottburgh areas of the KwaZulu Natal South Coast starting tomorrow, with potentially stiff competition against defending champions Hergen Fekken/Pierre Arries.

This will be my second time competing at the rally I’m really looking forward to it. The stages in Durban are a lot fun and the fact that I know the stages from last years experience makes me want to push more to get closer to the top South African drivers. Im aiming for another top-five finish, said Rautenbach.
