Hon. Paul MadzoreThe State alleged that Hon. Madzore unlawfully and intentionally assaulted Maponga, a member of the Criminal Investigation Department, who was on patrol in the suburb on 14 December 2006 at Makomva Shopping Centre. However, the trial could not commence on Wednesday and was rescheduled to 17 May 2011 by Magistrate Victoria Mashamba after the MPs lawyer Jeremiah Bamu protested at being served with State papers while in court on Wednesday morning.
The State has lined up two witnesses Maponga and Detective Constable Aaron Chipadza to testify against Hon. Madzore during his trial. Meanwhile, Shakespeare Mukoyi, the MDC Harare Youth Assembly vice chairperson who was arrested and beaten by police at a peace prayer church service on Saturday was released on free bail on Wednesday. He was arrested with 12 other people who were released on Monday. Mukoyi who appeared in court with a neck brace after he was seriously assaulted by the police will appear in court on 18 May. He is facing allegations of assaulting a police officer on the day he was arrested.
