EDITOR - I have always wondered what on earth went through their collective minds when Welshman Ncube and others made the decision to parachute the rocket man (Arthur Mutambara) into the leadership of their party.
Given some of his outrageous utterances, suicidal decisions and overall pathetic performance, I cannot see any logical reason why they ever thought of making him leader of their spoiler party. Why did he last so long?
Serious politics has no place for village idiots, clowns or fools in the life-and -death scenario that Zimbabwe faces. What must never be overlooked is that it doesn’t say much for those who made such a dumb appointment. I shudder to think what will happen to Zimbabwe if those who appointed him ever get into power. Their decision reeks of panic. I can see no other reason to explain why they appointed this man to such high office at such a critical stage in Zimbabwe’s struggle.
Now he appears to be emulating Mugabe, won’t step down and is threatening to dismiss people when he has no mandate from anyone (except from himself and perhaps Mugabe).
But Zimbabweans should look on bright side – never forget that people in Europe go to the theatre and pay good money to watch comedies like this. We get it all for free!!
