He was aged 54 years. Tandi died at his Avondale home in Harare on Tuesday. In the run up to the ill-fated 27 June 2008 presidential run-off election, Tandi was attacked by Zanu PF thugs in Nembudziya and had to undergo a major surgery. Tandi joined the MDC at its formation in 1999 and was elected Ward 6 chairperson in Nembudziya.
He was elected vice chairperson in 2005, a position he held until his death. He is survived by six children and burial arrangements are yet to be finalised.
Meanwhile, the State today admitted of wrongly inserting parts of its charges against the MDC Deputy Treasurer General and Energy and Power Development Minister, Hon Elton Mangoma. Hon. Mangoma is facing trumped up charges of abusing a public office as a minister when he averted a national crisis by assisting in the sourcing five million litres of fuel last December.
