Model dethroned for refusing to have sex

mathe_lungileHARARE - Miss Tourism Zimbabwes Miss Personality, Lungile Mathe (Pictured), has been dethroned and denied her prizes after allegedly turning down the sexual advances of senior politicians and government officials aligned to Zanu (PF).

The lost prizes include a car, donated by Glory Car Hire, a $1 500 cheque, monthly allowances adding up to $6 000, and a return trip to China. According to her close circle of friends, an outing with friends in Bulawayo, among them a man identified as Mandla Sithole believed to be based in the USA, turned out to have been a well-coordinated sting operation in which she ended up being accused of stealing his watch.

Mathes experience is not unique. Another former beauty queen and pageant organiser, Sipho Mazibuko, suffered emotional trauma after being stalked and repeatedly turning down the advances of sex pests and perverts. The official reason for the action taken against Lungile, according to Zimbabwe Tourism Authoritys spokesperson, Sugar Chagonda, was: “Following numerous reports that we had been receiving over her alleged unbecoming and uncouth behaviour, we have since established that her conduct violated the rules and regulations of the pageantry. All the reports that we had been receiving over her misconduct caused unwarranted negative publicity to the pageant.”

Some of the charges levelled against her included scandalous personal affairs and abuse of alcohol and having a sex orgy at a Bulawayo lodge. It is not clear where the reports of Mathes scandalous behaviour came from. Politicians and organisations championing the rights of girl children and women have been mute over the issue.

The Miss Zimbabwe Pageant, won by Miss Zimbabwe, Malaika Mashandu was held in February. Rumbidzai Mudzengere was crowned Miss Tourism Zimbabwe and Lisa Morgan Miss Universe Zimbabwe. The other beauties have received their prizes, with Mashandu driving off in a red BMW while Mudzengere received a Mercedes Benz and Morgan a Toyota Celica. They also received prizes of return tickets to foreign countries.
